Teen News Updates

So I've been out, but I'm back. But it will be different, a bit, you know. I'll update you with some news I think you may be interested in a couple times a week. If you want to ask me for advice, head on over to my other site, superclea.com. You can read about my new book too. It's OUT NOW and all about BFFs. But on with the news...

That's the new poster for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. There are 3 others but you know I love me some Hermione!

Seen / heard about Glee? It was referred to as High School Musical Punched in the Stomach” Read about it, see a clip, here.

Thrifting is apparently cool again — Always was for me!

Don’t think I like the idea of making a competition out of friendship… but MySpace does. They have a new online TV show game show.

A reading game show? More my speed.

Scholastic has posted recommended reading for the summer for all ages. It’s not a bad list, but it’s missing some major options.

There is a date now for the Disney movie Princess Protection Program, starring real life BFFs Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. The date? Friday, June 26 at 8p, on Disney Channel US and Family Channel Canada. They will release it the following Tuesday on DVD with an exclusive new music video of One and the Same performed by Gomez and Lovato, a behind-the-scenes look at the film, and a free B.F.F. necklace set. Princess Protection Program revolves around a soon-to-be teen princess (Lovato) who is taken into a witness protection program when her country is taken over. The teen royal is whisked to live with a PPP agent and his family, including his teenage daughter (Gomez), in rural Louisiana where she must try to fit in until order is restored in her country.

Top Trends spotted at Coachella? Look no further.

What’s V-Hud up to? New movie.

A new online teen drama is getting good reviews and it’s courtesy of… Tampax?

Think A&F lost it’s cool? I do. And so does the NY Times.

My movies, old movies = today’s games for girls, huh?

Would you be more inclined to go to the library if it were playing cool music? A librarian in the UK thinks so.

Those wacky Brits are introducing another show that perhaps will be copied here in the US. It’s called Clash and will provide kids with an introduction to classical music in a competition format. Clash features BBC Radio 1 DJs Bobby Friction and Nihal, each of which will lead a team of musically talented kids to give noted classical music pieces makeovers as pop tracks. The goal is to entertain and impress an audience of people who are not classical music. Think it could make it here?

America's Got Talent will now expand to a two-hour season premiere on June 23. Mariah’s hubby Nick Cannon is the new host. Susan Boyle is rumored to make an appearance on America's Got Talent too.

The fifth season premiere of Jon & Kate Plus 8 will be on Memorial Day May 25. The seventh season of What Not To Wear will feature Mayim Bialik, star of the 1990s series Blossom.

MTVs got a bunch of new shows, including:

*The Alexa Chung Show - British TV personality and model, Alexa Chung will host this daily one-hour live entertainment show which includes a large dose of viewer interaction. MTV will partner with Twitter offering viewers instantaneous input opportunities with Alexa, celebrity guests, or their own friends watching the show. The show will also feature a RockYou Live video sharing application, allowing viewers to submit their favorite viral videos and those they shoot themselves.

*The Buried Life - Four guys on a quest to prove everyday people can do anything. After each one accomplishes a task on their list then they will help a stranger do something on theirs.

There is a new cheap, green cell phone on the market. With a price tag of just $10, the Motorola Renew rolls in as one of the cheapest functioning gadgets you can buy. And while you can't watch YouTube or locate the nearest gas station on it, you can text and make quality phone calls all powered by a battery that provides up to nine hours of talk time. But while this phone is cheap, we think its green properties are its most impressive attributes. Motorola offsets the energy required to make, distribute and operate the Renew, so it boasts Carbonfree status - the first for a mobile phone. And as if that wasn't enough, it's also made from recycled plastic bottles and flaunts 100% recycled packaging.

Jo Bros Kill Time

They do have a lot of time on their hands to be able to make this:

Sabrina Bryan's New Vid

It's a workout video that combines hip hop and bollywood and is choreographed by the gal who did the Cheetah moves, plus has worked with Fergie and others. The gist of the video too is that you got to celebrate the body you have and have fun working it. I can get behind that I guess. Here is a sneak peek:

American Idol Started...

...and I missed it! Here I am telling you girls about new movies and TV shows and books and what not and I totally missed the AI debut. Darn it. No one in my house likes this show but me so getting some time to watch it is HARD. I'm going online to see clips. Here is one for you:

This guys gets a pass through the next audition because they liked him so much. He's been blind since birth. Impressive.

Did you watch? Did you see anyone good? Do you like the new judge???

My Favorite Reality Show Is Auditioning...

But I can't dance.

So You Think You Can Dance will start their auditions for the next season on February 3 at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami. There will be auditions in Los Angeles, Denver, Memphis and Seattle, too.

More Kids Going Veg

A new study just came out that says one in every 200 American kids is vegetarian. That's pretty high numbers. The study seems to think it's because there is more awareness about cruelty to animals than ever before with the internet, particularly you tube and other stuff like that.

It's important to note that if you do go veg, you have to make sure to get enough protein, iron and calcium from other sources because the fruit and veg won't do it alone (but goodness knows they are good for us.) For more info on being a healthy veg (even if you're just a Tuesday Veg - and you choose to be Vegetarian every Tuesday!) check out this site, or this one. Or even this one.

Jo Bros Have Something To Say

So the Jonas Brothers have a big announcement, or so they say, and they announced on My Space. Wanna know what they said? No, they aren't breaking up. None of them are getting married. No, this is what they had to say:

Hey everyone! 2008 was an amazing year, and we owe it all TO YOU! In 2009, we want to work WITH YOU to make this year even better! As you know, the Jonas family does everything together, and we know you and your friends, the FANFAMILY, do everything together. You may have heard that our 3D movie is coming out and in the movie, we invite you behind the scenes for the ultimate Jonas experience. But over the next seven weeks - which will be the busiest seven weeks ever - we’re going to work together to create the “FanFamily” Experience!

“What is the FanFamily Experience? There will be a variety of activities and events that allow us to join forces on everything we do this year – from the 3D movie to the World Tour to the release of our new CD. But our first FanFamily project is to make the OPENING WEEKEND OF THE 3D MOVIE the BIGGEST OPENING WEEKEND EVER for a 3D movie. Besides reading letters and watching some of your videos, we want to GET TO KNOW YOU – the FanFamily - better by working together in some new and exciting ways!

“PS: We’re really close to finalizing our list of nations and cities for the WORLD TOUR, so hopefully we will be seeing you really soon!

I'm not even sure what all that means???

Miley's Book

“Miles To Go” hits bookstores in March. It's Miley's Biography. Now my question dear readers is this... will you buy this book? Will you read this book? Do you think we will learn anything we don't already know about her? And my really big question is this: DO you think she actually wrote it, or paid what is called a ghost writer to write it?

You can pre-order it, if you really want to, here on Amazon.

To Go Where No Man Has Gone Before...

Okay remember Chris Pine from Princess Diaries 2? He's cute in a super upper crust rich boy way. Well he and Zachary Spinto (Heroes) are starring as Captain Kirk and Spock in the new remake of Star Trek. Here they are hanging out and you know what? They look good.
