No matter who your family voted for, no matter which candidate you supported, no matter what issues matter to you most, no matter if you live in the United States of America or elsewhere, no matter which way you slice it, last night was truly a historic day in this vast country's continuing story. One of the news stories that will come today and tomorrow will be that first-time voters, young voters, voters not really that much older than you, had a large hand in electing the first African-American president of the United States. This morning I urge you to take a moment to think about that, and to think about your civic responsibility to your country, what you can do for your country in the future and the power that each of you have.
Congratulations to our 44th President, Barack Obama, and the legions of ordinary Americans that used their awesome power.
