So it started with this quote in OK! Magazine, attributed to Selena: “I get so mad about ex-boyfriends, but if a boy hurts me, I don’t write a song about it. They don’t deserve it!”
The magazine made it sound like Selena was bagging on the ex-boyfriend revenge tactics used by Taylor Swift. But Selena says that's not it at all. She stated on her own My Space blog:
I may have been misunderstood and would like to clear that up. Most of my songs are about love, I am a 16-year-old teenager and I sing about what is on every girl's mind. Love.
What I was implying was that the songs I sing about, the boys who have hurt me or that are no longer in my life don't deserve a song to be written about them but, that's impossible. Writing and singing is a gateway to sharing and getting out feelings. I hope that I have cleared up any confusion I may have caused to my fans!
Not that we all need to nitpick everything, but I like that she wanted to clear up any thoughts or implications that she was being mean to Taylor, whose been through enough in the public eye in 2008 and I wish her a fabulously drama-free 2009! Ditto for Selena! And double-ditto for all of you!
